So it’s been a while. We never really got to the posts for the last three days. This was mainly because we got home and immediately got ready for the school. Actually, the last few days weren’t that interesting. It was a lot of driving in just a few days and not that much to see. We decided we should still write something, though, so here’s brief recap of each day.
Day 8
We left the lovely Hanson Hills campground in Columbia, MO in the morning and finished in Delaware, OH, just outside Columbus. The main attraction of the day was St. Louis . We ate at the Goody Goody diner, which was excellent. I got fried chicken and waffles, their famous combination. I was a little skeptical at first, but it was absolutely delicious! The chicken was especially amazing. Katie kept eating it. She got eggs benedict herself – her favorite-est. After Goody Goody and the obligatory mug purchase by Katie, we went on to the arch. I was surprised that it was actually as big, if not bigger, in person than I had seen on TV. Not too much more to say, I guess. It’s a big arch. That’s about it. We didn’t take the time to go up it, though the views probably would have been cool.

Day 9
This day was pretty much just driving. It was raining. Bleh. The highlight of the day definitely came at the end with Niagara Falls. Katie had never been there before so she was pretty pumped. We went to the Canadian side, and the border patrol were freakin’ intense! They asked us so many questions rapid fire that we started to doubt ourselves haha. The main problem was explaining the whole story of whose car we were driving and everything. Luckily, thanks to Katie’s Dad, we had a signed sheet that explained the whole deal. In the end, we got through no problem. Niagara was great, though a little wet (hah!). After the falls we went on to our campsite, which turned out to be one of the best ones. We got tent set up, fire started, and dinner cooking in less than a half hour. Also, dinner was delicious – corn on the cob cooked in the fire, salad, rice, and hot dogs.

Day 10
We woke up to a very rainy morning. Unknown to us while we slept, it had poured buckets overnight. This wouldn’t have been that bad, except that we had some serious car trouble. The car we were driving had a very obnoxious car alarm that would go off somewhat randomly. When I went to open the car, the alarm started going off and nothing I could do would stop it. We finally realized that there was a simple switch on the door that turned it off. Sounds easy, but it was not that noticeable. Then, the car still wouldn’t start. We eventually figured it out, but at this point we can’t remember exactly how we fixed it. Point is, it sucked. After that packing took twice as long because everything was soaked, but overall it wasn’t that bad. The rest of the day was fairly uneventful, and we made it back to Amherst with no problems.
